The optical microscope photography at left shows, in a single tooth, the cavities made with ball tip of same diameter (1 mm). At left with CVDentus tip, at right with high speed rotary burr.
Note the superior quality of borders obtained with ultrasonic tip. Note yet the high precision in cavity diameter, exactly the same as the ball tip.
The photos below are higher magnifications of both cavities floor, respectivelly. At left, the floor obtained with CVDentus is very smooth. At right, there are the concentric groves characteristic of high speed rotary system.
The same cavities were analized by scanning electron microscopy, with 3000 X magnification.
The picture at left shows the dentine surface due to CVDentus tips. The dentine tubules are partially open, showing only smear plugs.
The picture at right shows the thick smear layer characteristic of high speed rotary system.
